An Update from Ken

2004-11-04
I voted for Bush. I have my reasons, most of which are tied to a hatred of socialism, and the lack of a better option.

I went to church last night. Actually it was Bible study, in the book of Matthew. The focus was reading the parables at face value. In fact, reading all of the Bible at face value, and stripping away everything I've been told about what was said and written, and taking the words for what they are, and letting the Holy Spirit guide me towards understanding. I recommend that, reading Matthew chapters 12 and 13, and not bringing any preexisting thoughts or judgements.

Today I finished reading the book of Isiah, and I've been reading the Bible everyday for a couple of weeks now. I begin each day with a chapter from Psalms and Proverbs, and then I read in one book each of the Old and New Testament the rest of the day. I haven't decided which two books will be next, but the leaders are Jeremiah and Mark, respectively.

Reading scripture in the mornings has made it much easier to give up my addiction to internet pornography. I am happy to say that I have given it up completely. I am ashamed to admit that I had to.

I'm in love with a girl who has two kids and is going through a divorce. Our relationship went from making out after work to shacking up in hotel rooms to basic courting. I have a date with her Saturday night. I'm excited about that.

I went from smoking a pack a day to a quarter of a pack a day, and that's a struggle.

It was cold outside today, and the sunset was spectacular. A shelf of gold lingered on the horizon below gray clouds and night's pursuit.

Someone told me the chilly air made them want to sit outside all night and drink coffee. That sounded like a really good idea.

Peace.
