all this frustration

I am not proud of the distance shown by the pictures. Intimacy and closeness. Allowing them when earned, and not offering them when they aren't. So much work left. Friday, 3 am, awakened. By four I'd showered and left, in search, leaving, not sure, but going. I went downtown, Jackson, taking pictures. The absence of traffic allowed me to step away from my truck, with it idling in the middle of the road, take a picture, then continue. I love downtowns, lights and sidewalks, paintings on bricks, facades and skins of building, their guts forbidden by locked glass doors.
Night driving is for cities. Night being that where sunlight isn't, regardless of the actual hour. The countryside is for the sun, the day, the light filling the gaps, creating shade, warming things. They aren't equal, day and night. They simply are, and I respond to them.
